At Anna Mae Sonflower Seeds, independence is not just a date—it’s a declaration.
From free doula support and community baby showers to job readiness clothing and warm, welcoming support groups—we’re building freedom, one family at a time.
While the country celebrates freedom, we pause to ask:
What does independence really mean for Black and Brown families today?
For us, freedom looks like access—to care, to support, to dignity, and to healing spaces that see us, support us, and walk with us.
Anna Mae Sonflower Seeds was founded in 2023 by a group of passionate women who saw a need for accessible support for families facing challenges like trauma, maternal struggles, and generational divides.
Anna Mae Sonflower Seeds is in honor of Founder Dena’s late grandmother Anna Mae Greene who birthed 17 children with her grandfather, the late Rev. James Greene of Burlington, NJ
Inspired by their own lived experiences and a desire to create safe, healing spaces, we set out to bring holistic care and education directly to women, teens, and children in the community, wherever they are most comfortable.
Since then, they have grown into a trusted source of guidance, empowerment, and healing, offering trauma-informed support, wellness education, mentorship, and community-based programs.
Our approach focuses on nurturing the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—while helping families build stronger relationships, develop healthy coping skills, and create lasting positive change. Through compassion, connection, and culturally responsive care, we are planting seeds of hope that help individuals and families thrive for generations to come.
We accomplish our mission by nurturing the holistic growth of individuals. This involves offering various services, including training, educational support groups, prenatal and postnatal care, certified coaching support, mindful and meditative nature walks, retreats, and mental ART healing practices for families.
We bring healing, care, and learning support directly to women, teens, and children wherever they need it most, creating safe and welcoming spaces for families to grow, heal, and thrive together.
Our Vision: “Planting Seeds to Cultivate A New Generation to Fulfill It’s Purpose.”
Our vision is to provide creative, safe, and brave spaces for African American and Latino women to grow, heal and break the cyclical barriers of historical trauma that keep their families and communities from thriving.
